Terpenes are aromatic compounds found in the essential oils of the hemp plant. They play a significant role in shaping the plant's aroma, flavour, and therapeutic effects. Our Terpene extract contains natural anti-inflammatory and analgesic plant compounds.
Here at T&HC we source Low THC hemp and turmeric exclusively a single farm at Kyolge in the pristine Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. The farm operates under a Department of Primary Industries ‘Low THC Industrial Hemp’ licence and uses organic cultivation methods, concentrating on the sustainable cultivation of healthy hemp and turmeric plants.
We process this premium quality hemp and turmeric into a range of different food supplements and skincare products using our state-of the-art carbon dioxide extraction machine.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) extraction, also known as supercritical fluid extraction, is a method used to extract essential oils, flavors, and other compounds from various plants and herbs. In this process, carbon dioxide is pressurized until it reaches a supercritical state, meaning it exhibits properties of both a liquid and a gas. In this state, CO2 can efficiently extract desired compounds from the plant material.
The traditional method of extraction involves using solvents like ethanol or hexane, followed by solvent removal. These can destroy some of the more delicate organic compounds in the plant matter, particularlly the terpenes.
CO2 extraction is considered a more environmentally friendly and safer alternative to solvent-based methods because CO2 is non-toxic and easily removable from the final product. It gives very high yields, which, when we are using expensive plants, means our prices are lower and our quality higher than those using less sophisticated processes.
